Nais Knit Crop Shrug Top

Comfy and elegant knit shrug top. Perfect for layering.

Knit in stockinette, on a knitting machine, or by hand. Fits most sizes, specific suggestions given for XXS-XXL. Optional picot lacey edging instructions included.

Knit on a knitting machine 5.5X7 tension settings or by hand with needles 6.5mm (6mm held loose is fine)

Named for the Cyrestis Nais butterfly, a brushfooted butterfly native to Indonesia.

The photos demonstrated in this pattern are for an 

S (24-30 waist, 32-38 hip, 5’2 to 5’8 height)


XXS-XS can be made by decreasing the length of the elastics to your measurements and decreasing your stitches by the inches in the gauge

 

L-XXL can be made by increasing the length of the elastics to your measurements and decreasing your stitches by the inches in the gauge


Gauge: 4 stitches by 7 rows

Knitting Machine Tension: 5.5 X 7


Materials:

3-8 skeins #1 Lace weight yarn 

LK 150 or standard gauge knitting machine 

OR

6.5mm circular knitting needles

Safety Pins

Soft measuring tape

SC - Single Crochet

DC - Double Crochet

CH - Chain

The Top


Row 1-40: cast on 80, knit in stockinette.


40 rows for XXS-XS, 60 stitches

40 rows for S, 70 stitches

50 rows for M-L, 80 stitches

60 rows for L-XL, 90 stitches

70 rows for XL-XXL, 100 stitches


repeat for two panels

 

Side Body Seams


  1. Turn the right sides together

  2. Either sew or slip stitch crochet the sides of the waist together, (i chose slip stitch or single crochet)

  3. Repeat on the other side

  4. Weave in your ends

 

Shoulder Seams


  1. Turn the right sides together

  2. Sew or slip stitch crochet the sides of the shoulder together for 16 stitches each side, (i chose slip stitch or single crochet)

  3. Repeat on the other side

  4. Weave in your ends


12 st for XXS-XS

16 st for S

20 st for M-L

24 st for L-XL

26 st for XL-XXL

 

Optional Picot lace edging


  1. Ch 3, slip stitch into the same stitch, slip stitch 2

  2. Repeat until finished 

  3. Cut a 4-inch tail

  4. Thread in all your ends with a tapestry needle
